Balitang America travel segment: Flying Premier Class

For most, the front cabin or upper deck of the large 747 aircraft is as taboo as eating rattlesnake. But for the few that can afford and see the value of flying business class, it soon becomes the benchmark. In our industry of international transpacific flying, an economy seat is expensive enough let alone a business class fare so that most people will never even consider flying business or premier class.

In our most recent travel segment on Balitang America, we were fortunate enough to have exclusive access to the new refurbished business class cabin of Philippine Airlines. Gone is the old and outdated first class and business class seats; they have been transformed into the modern translation of flying luxury. One only has to sit in the new seats to experience the side of flying that is not dreadful, cramped, and leaves you with that "stiff neck" feeling.

Besides the larger seating area, fine dining and more legroom, there are other perks that come with flying premier class; many of which are even before you get on the plane. When flying internationally most know you have to arrive at the airport 3 hours before your departure time and wait in the long line of other travelers. When flying business class, there is an exclusive line that has short wait times if any, which enable you to arrive at the airport much later, giving you time to pack and get your things in order. The airline lounges (eg. Mabuhay Lounge, Philippine Airlines) serve as the mecca of waiting areas while the plane boards while you satisfy your taste buds to delectable snacks and a healthy stocked bar, if that's your cup of tea.

Last July 31-August 1, 2009, Mango Tours participated in the first-ever Philippine Migration, Overseas Opportunities, Visas and Employment (MOVE) Expo at the SMX Mall of Asia.

A one-stop shop for Filipinos who want to work abroad, MOVE aims to help expo participants with topics such as migration, student or working visas, temporary or permanent residency, and employment opportunities.

Mango Tours, one of the many exhibitors at the expo, was there to lend a helping hand to hopeful migrants by coming out with special fares that are exclusive to first-time immigrants, contract workers and their dependents. These special fares fly out to destinations where most Filipino migrant workers relocate to such as the United States (San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York), Canada (Vancouver, Toronto), Australia and New Zealand, Middle East (Doha, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, Dubai, Kuwait) and Europe.

Travel and boxing??

by Japee Francisco

Last Saturday i was fortunate to witness yet again how great the Filipinos are. Being in Las Vegas is always fun however when watching a major pay per view boxing match to boot, makes it a wonderful weekend. And no i am not talking about watching our greatest athlete Manny Pacquiao fight, but another up and coming boxing champion Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire. And yes he is a champion, one who holds the WBA World Title at the Super Flyweight category.

One of Mango Tours' media and official partners FilAmNation.com had exclusive press passes for the fight and Manny Legaspi of FilAmNation.com was kind enough to take me to witness this great fight.

In attendance at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas was a large number of Filipino fans and supporters, over half of the audience to be exact. The fight had been cleverly dubbed as "Pinoy Power 2" being that there were a total of 3 Filipino fighters total on the card that night. The main event with The Filipino Flash started with electricity and even though the crowd did not see a spectacular knockout, Nonito Donaire was able to win in 12 rounds via a unanimous decision.
