The bustling life in the city can sometimes be exhausting. Everywhere you look, there’s always tall buildings crowding up the blue sky. Everywhere you walk, you step in to cement sidewalks instead of cottony grass. And every time you breathe, you feel less healthy due to the pollution. And you stop and think, all of those things you do can be so much better. It’s about time to untie yourself from this kind of routine and give yourself an escape you’ve always hoped for. Feed your senses with new activities, buy yourself a great, healthy meal and walk in the paths you’ve never been before. Let yourself adopt the art of discoveries. Start by discovering Tagaytay.
A 2-hour drive from Manila, Tagaytay is probably one of the best options for an escape. It is a base for numerous eco-adventures, unique and delicious local produce, wonderful sights and friendly faces. The best time to go in Tagaytay if you’re coming from Manila is around 5:00am in the morning. Why? Because you don’t want miss the amusing morning view of Taal Lake. After having your coffee along the highway of Tagaytay, don’t forget to dine at Josephine Restaurant located at Tagaytay-Batangas Highway Kilometer 58.

The amiable restaurant doesn’t only offer great food but also a quaint view of the Taal Lake. Fresh air, sumptuous food, unbelievable view--All in one place. The Mango Tours team has been there. It’s proven and tested; this restaurant has something big to offer to its customers.

From the inside view of this restaurant, you can see nothing but heavenly sight. A tranquil, stable view offered free by nature. One of nature’s ways to get us away from worries and hassles of life.
Here are the must-try food delights:
Delectable Filipino Cuisines are served to satisfy your cravings.
The deliciously sour taste of Sinigang na Hipon perfected with fresh vegetables and herbs.
A healthy, full of flavor tuna belly served hot and fresh.
A lip-smacking side dish Puso ng Saging, cooked perfectly with a right mix of banana bud, vinegar, salt and herbs and secret ingredients.

Roasted Pork Liempo handed out with rich flavors that are perfect for pleasing those taste buds.

Get to know Manila More

January 21, 2011 Mango Tours 0 Comments

Intramuros is probably the best place to go if you want to be familiar with what it was like in Manila during the colonization of the Spaniards back in the 16th century. It was Miguel Lopez de Legaspi, a Spanish conquistador, who was behind the construction of this City Fortress. During the Spanish period, Intramuros, also known as the Walled City, serves as home to only the Spanish Elites or what they called during that time as Mestizos or the mixed race individuals
Although centuries have passed and modernization struck the whole City of Manila, Intramuros still remain as a historical place of importance giving the people living in the present the opportunity to have a glimpse of the past.

Together with Jeepney Tours, a tourism innovation that offers a unique ride to every destination, Mango Tours was able to visit Intramuros through their unique Jeepney ride. Jeepney, being the most popular transportation vehicle in the Philippines especially in Manila, has been a big part of the Filipino culture. Your Manila exploration would not be complete without riding on this Philippine Jeepney also known as the “King of Road”.
Here is the Mango Tours’ list for the must-see places in Intamuros:

San Agustin Church
Inside the Walled City of Intramuros lies the Philippines’ oldest Roman Catholic Church, the San Agustin Church that was completely built in the year 1607. This majestic Church has bear witness to the Catholic faith and life of the Filipino people over the past centuries making it one of the strongest and famous foundations of Manila’s history and culture.

The door of San Agustin Church that was decoratively carved and designed to emphasize further its magnificent Baroque feature.
Barbara’s Restaurant
Across San Agustin Church is a demure restaurant called Barbara’s Restaurant. This Spanish-inspired restaurant was formerly known as the Admiral Manila Restaurant back in the 1970s. In 1986, the restaurant changed its name to what it’s now famously-known for as the Barbara’s Restaurant. From the outside view of the restaurant, you can distinguish right away its Spanish-era influences.
Every corner of this restaurant has a Spanish elegance that attracts both the local and foreign visitors. All its wooden and antique decors add symmetry to the restaurant’s charming ambiance.

Inside Barbara’s Menu are mix of traditional Filipino, Spanish and European recipes that everyone can savor and enjoy.
One of the tastiest most delicious roast beefs can be found in Barbara’s perfected with its lip-smacking sauce.

The Fort Santiago
Centuries have passed but still this Military structure that can be found inside the Walled City stands strong and rise above it historical grounds. Philippines' national hero Dr. Jose Rizal was once imprisoned in this fort before his execution in 1896.
Rizal Shrine
Located at the far end of the Fort Santiago is the Rizal Shrine dedicated to the lifeworks of Dr. Jose Rizal. Some copies of his historic books such as his first and second novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo are displayed along with some of Rizal's clothes, young photos and memorabilia.
Along the street of Sta, Lucia in Intramuros is the famous Intramuros and Rizal, Bagumbayan Light and Sound Museum. You can appreciate the art of time travelling through this one-of-a kind Museum in Asia that showcases Philippine History focusing on the early life until the end of life of Dr. Jose Rizal.

This museum uses animatronics and robotics as well as innovative light and sound effects to attractively elaborate the story it wants to tell.
Manila Cathedral
Manila Cathedral, a magnificent Cathedral nestled inside Intramuros, is the original Cathedral in the Philippines that was first built in 1581. It was reconstructed five times due to fire and several earthquakes that destroyed it. But despite it all, the Cathedral was able to regain its historical importance up until the present time. It serves as a living proof and bearer of the past memories of the Philippine history.
