In other words, booking flights before was not as easy and convenient as it is today.

Thanks to advancements in technology, developers were able to invent an Online Booking Engine that made every traveler’s life simpler. Mango Picks: Places to Visit During the Holy Week

March 29, 2011 Mango Tours 0 Comments

The Holy Week is about to come and for a predominantly Catholic country, it is time again for reflection coupled with penance for Catholics across the Philippines. Here are some places where the faithful and even the plain curious could revitalize their spirits.

Mt. Banahaw

This mystical mountain serves as a border to Laguna and Quezon. Said to be imbued with supernatural qualities, it is also the closest 2,000 meter mountain to Manila making it a popular destination for mountaineers.

Kamay ni Hesus

Fr. Joey Faller, a renowned healing priest, conducts masses for the faithful on this garden-paradise at Lucban, Quezon. A towering figure of Jesus Christ overlooks the estate with outstretched arms like that of the Christ the Redeemer Statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Sagada

Though getting to this high-altitude town will take half of the day from Manila, it is an ideal retreat for people seeking solace and contemplation. Hanging coffins, caves and underground rivers are a must in the itinerary.

The Old Churches of Laguna

Laguna shares a rich history with the Philippines’ colonial past. The Spanish, particularly, built majestic churches for the conversion of the natives and these structures are still standing today. They can be found in Pila, Lumban, Longos, Paete, Pakil, Majayjay, San Pablo, Magdalena, and Nagcarlan. Visiting them can make up the perfect Visita Iglesia across the alluring landscapes of Laguna.

Pampanga

Come Good Friday, there will be blood. Thousands of spectators flock San Pedro Cutud in San Fernando, Pampanga for a spectacle that highlights the Filipinos’ penchant for painful penance. There are penitents, flagellants, crawlers on dirt roads, and the most extreme of them all, the Cristos or those who get crucified in the supreme re-enactment of Christ’s passion.

Have a meaningful and spiritually-fulfilling Holy Week.

The Allure of Alegre Beach Resort and Spa

March 23, 2011 Mango Tours 1 Comments

Alegre Beach Resort and Spa is situated up north in quiet Sogod town, Cebu. This multi-awarded and bona fide 5-star resort is a welcome reprieve to the weary visitors of Cebu’s shores. It definitely lives up to its Spanish meaning (happy, cheerful, and bright).

It will take quite some time to get to this hideaway/paradise. But the distance factor will definitely be left behind in the dust road as one enters Alegre. Guests are greeted with friendly receptionists and are obliged to sip welcome drinks.

Facing the seemingly endless sea, a few inhalations of the salty-fresh breeze will be enough to remind guests that they’ve arrived in a huge strip of paradise.

Rooms are enclosed in villas designed in the great tradition of native Philippine architecture. Decked by layers of cogon, they give off an authentic feel of a bygone era. But upon entering the villa, the interiors are replete with luxuries that guarantee a comfortable stay.

Food is usually served buffet style so guests can pick up from different cuisines to satisfy their cravings. Chefs are on standby for personal requests like preparing your eggs or creating exciting desserts. At night, a live roaming band enhances the romantic and festive vibe; they also cater to personal requests.

There are plenty of water activities for the adventurous type. Scuba diving tops the list as master scuba divers teachand guide beginning divers in exploring the depths of Cebu’s coastal reefs. Guests can also try the other activities like dolphin watching, banana boat riding, and jet Skiing, to name a few.

After staying at Alegre and saying goodbye to the warm atmosphere of Sogod, the recurring sound of the waves and ethereal images will be mixing in one’s mind translating to an eager return trip.

Cebu's Vintage Sheen: Mango Tours in Balitang America

March 23, 2011 Mango Tours 0 Comments

Cebu continues to be one of the busiest provinces in the Philippines. Cultural icons and landmarks are juxtaposed with buildings and commercial centers. The cities are bursting with life and economic activity. There is wonderful congestion, brought about by busy cars and the movement of people. There are tourists coming from everywhere for the culture and pleasure that awaits them. After hopping from one adventure to the next whether it is soaking up on some sun in the many beaches with sparkling sand, participating in the many festivals on its towns, or just plainly looking and appreciating the intricacies of our nation's history through its landmarks. There is a certain tinge that Cebu leaves on the skin of her visitors, and it is does not burn badly.
