Each of us has our favorite island in the Philippines but among those, Bohol’s charm has swept me off my feet. And when it comes to finding the vacation home, Eskaya Beach Resort & Spa’s exclusivity and privacy amid the serenity of nature ranks number one in my heart.
A short plane ride from Manila will take you to the luxury resort nestled on Panglao Island, Bohol. Upon reaching the resort’s gate, you will instantly get a rustic vibe through the colors and materials they use. Amidst the sprawling 16-hectare resort are lush greeneries and animals that roam freely.
From the airport pick-up to our arrival at the resort and check-in, I cannot help but notice the distinct warmth and friendliness of Eskaya’s staff. Also, there is no better way to welcome guests than with refreshing drink and pretty flower necklace.
The resort is known for its exclusivity through the 24 single-detached villas, locally called balai, offering views of the garden or the sea. A contemporary-designed balai features Filipino architecture with the use of home-grown materials such as bamboo, cogon and wood. Interiors of the suites are distinctly local yet luxurious – bed canopy that drapes over the soft bed linens and decorations that boast of native elements.
The open-air bathroom with jacuzzi tubs or whirlpools and outdoor shower area surrounded by tall bamboo fences that give you a luxurious yet ‘one with nature’ experience.
Just when I thought the open-air bathroom was the highlight of the villa, the place got more interesting when the staff lead us over to our very own sun deck with a private pool! So, if you’re a lover of the outdoors but wish to stay within the comforts of your vacation home, the sun loungers at the wooden decks are perfect for hanging out any time of the day. And of course, your private pool is all yours so you can take a dip or swim to your heart’s content.
Indulging in a pleasant dining experience is definitely one of my best experiences in Eskaya. Staying true to its meaning “to view”, Lantawan Restaurant promises its guest a relaxing and satisfying dining experiences with spectacular views of the sea. Enjoy sumptuous Filipino and world-class dishes whether inside the restaurant, in the garden, poolside, at the beach, or at a private deck. Meals are served hot and are quite a plateful.
There’s no other way to describe the resort’s infinity pool than its spectacular view blending with the blue sea of Bohol.
Set across Lantawan Restaurant, the infinity pool offers a romantic view at night with lights that reflect in the waters. Swim up to the pool bar and enjoy a good drink or two without having to leave the pool, because who doesn’t enjoy a cool drink while taking a dip, right?
Bask in the sun, dine, or simply go on a leisurely walk along the private beach of Eskaya. Lovers of outdoor activities? Engage in some fun with friends by playing badminton, volleyball, and Ping-Pong. Apart from swimming in its beautiful, inviting waters, the resort also offers water sports activities like jet-skiing, kayaking, and snorkeling. If you wish to discover more of Bohol, the resort also offers optional tours and other activities in and around the island.
Relaxation at its Finest
Relaxing music, soothing touch and the commanding view of the sea from its location atop a hill, it’s more like heaven at the Eskaya’s Handuraw Spa. Choose from a selection of traditional (Asian and Filipino) wellness and spa treatments promising to soothe your mind, body, and soul.
Recognized as one of Bohol’s most exclusive and luxurious resort, Eskaya does not fail when it comes to quality service. Nothing makes a stay more worthwhile and unforgettable than a caring and reliable staff. They have been highly accommodating and warm throughout our stay, plus their turndown service, which always comes with a surprise, is truly admirable.
If you wish to indulge in a getaway that is of combined luxury and tranquility, Eskaya Beach Resort & Spa in Panglao Island, Bohol is indeed the place to be. The room rates are quite pricey but its high-end facilities, utmost privacy and exclusivity are at par with the admirable hospitality service. Staying in Eskaya worth staying at, especially for honeymooners, families who wish to have an intimate getaway, and travelers who look forward to a real Boholano experience.
Fact: The resort’s design is inspired by culture and traditions of Bohol only indigenous group, the Eskaya, thus the name of the lavish Eskaya Beach Resort & Spa.
