Attraction Review: Notre Dame Cathedral, Saigon

Notre Dame Cathedral, Saigon
You may have heard of the famous Notre Dame Cathedral that’s found in France, but did you know Saigon has its own Cathedral under the same name? It is considered one of the biggest of the region’s attractions, it is also the area’s most prominent religious institution for the locals.

It was built in the late 1880s under the instruction of French colonists and is one of the few remaining Catholic buildings in Vietnam, with its much larger Buddhist population. Fittingly located in Paris Square, it was given the name ‘Notre Dame’ when the statue, ‘Peaceful Notre Dame’, was installed in the year 1959.
