Well-known Airports of the Philippines

Airports are the gateway to the world for all travelers, no matter what walk of life they come from. In the tropical island of the Philippines, airports are a great way to access all the major islands across the archipelago. Here are some of the busiest Philippine airports around the country.
Ninoy International Airport
Manila’s most well-known airport. When the Philippines was just getting used to its independence, this airport was constructed under the name Manila International Airport. It was later changed as a tribute to the late Ninoy Aquino. It receives both international and domestic flights and has four terminals that are at least 331,000 sqm.
Kalibo International Airport
Because of its proximity to the ever-popular Boracay, the airport has had its fair share of visitors from many different places. It is one of the best ways to access this top travel destination. It also provides back and forth flights around South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and many others.
Iloilo International Airport
Despite being on the smaller size, this island’s airport has been given the International tag after meeting the proper standards. It is considered the second busiest airport around Western Visayas right after Kalibo. It is also one of the newest airports to exist, being built in the year 2007, and replaced the now-defunct Mandurriao airport.
Puerto Princesa International Airport
Much like Kalibo International, Puerto Princesa owes its large number of guests to its proximity to the Puerto Princesa River, another very famous Philippine attractions. Aside from the domestic flights to Manila, Cebu, and Iloilo, there are international flights to and from Taiwan as well.
Mactan-Cebu International Airport
Replacing Lahug airport, the Mactan-Cebu International airport first began its operations in the 60s. It became quite popular as an access point for the southern part of the country and many other places within that general direction. It has access to countries like Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai, and many more.
There are so many interesting airports all over the Philippines and they can be as diverse as the languages and cultures in all of the many different islands around the country. Sometimes learning about the airports you’ll be assessing in your journeys can open up some interesting info that you can further use to enjoy the journey.
